Case Details:

Mr. Wang Xuezhu was arrested on April 24, 2008 as part of the pre-Beijing Olympic roundup, detained for eight months without charge and then secretly sentenced to four years at Shiling Prison, located in Siping City. Beatings rendered him unconscious and he died in custody on May 22, 2011.

Family attempted to visit an extremely emaciated Mr. Wang when they learned of his deteriorated condition but he never regained consciousness before dying.

In late 2008, Mr. Wang exposed the names of prison officials and torture methods used at the prison camp in a letter to his family members. Official Han Jingjun and guard Li Haifeng reportedly beat Mr. Wang for several hours with an electric baton as reprisal. 

Since 2004 at least four other practitioners have been tortured to death at Siping Prison.
