Tianjin Municipal Women’s Prison

The original site of Tianjin Women’s Prison was located at No. 199, Lingbin Road
(Lingzhuangzi Road), Nankai District, Tianjin City. On June 30, 2017, it was relocated to the
“Prison City”, which was expanded from the original Liyuantou Prison (the original Tianjin
Prison), in Liyuantou, Liqizhuang, Xiqing District. The persecution methods used in the prison
against Falun Gong practitioners included: slavery labor for long hours, forcing them to sit on small
benches for long periods of time (torture), tying them to the “dead bed”, and being subjected to brutal force-feeding.
Detained criminals were encouraged to torture practitioners with beatings, sleep deprivation,
restricting meals and usage of the toilet, etc. The prison guards even drugged Falun Gong
practitioners, causing some of them to become mentally disturbed, unresponsive, blind, or suffer
from high blood pressure and heart diseases.

44-year-old Chen Ruiqin had undergone prolonged humiliation and was persecuted to death.

Ms. Chen Ruiqin was a 44-year-old Falun Gong practitioner of the Ji County of Tianjin City. In 2015,
she was sentenced to four and a half years and kidnapped to the Tianjin Women’s Prison. Since
she did not give up her belief, she went through prolonged torture and brutal persecution in the

prison. She was forced to stand for long time and denied use of the toilet. Toes of both her feet
were stepped to bleed badly, her body was beaten all over, the Baojia (i.e. criminal
inmates participating in persecution in exchange for benefits) poured boiling water onto her face;
lewdly pinched her nipples and her private area, and even forced her to eat feces and drink urine.
The Baojia grabbed objects like urine containers or benches and hit her whenever they pleased.
In December 2016, the prison escalated its persecution of Chen Ruiqin. She was moved from her
jail cell to a sealed room where three Baojia were assigned. Two Baojia took turns at night to
torture her. Within a month, Chen Ruiqin was on the verge of death several times. In the cold
winter, she was only wearing very thin clothes. She was tortured to the point that she was unable
to stand up and her body was bent in a 90-degree position. Chen Ruiqin was persecuted to death
by the Tianjin Women’s Prison around 10:00PM on February 10th, 2017.
