Case Details:

 

Ms. Qu Yuxiang was first arrested in the fall of 2000 for distributing information about Falun Gong. She would later be arrested a second and then a third time before being sentenced to three years at the Zhongba Labor Re-education Center. There she suffered torture that resulted in an enlarged liver and swollen gallbladder duct. Because she could not eat she was sent home on medical parole.

After her release, Ms. Qu was still harassed by the 610 Office. Harassment included physical threats, visits to her home and the sentencing of her daughter, Ms. Qu Jing, to a re-education through labor camp for four years.

When her daughter was released in the fall of 2006 with no ability to work, having lost her job due to persecution, Ms. Qu struggled to support them both. Having never fully recovered from injuries sustained at Zhongba Labor Re-education Center, Ms. Qu passed away on July 10, 2011.
