Case Details:

Prior to his last detention, Mr. Liu had previously been taken into custody on several occasions, including being “sentenced” to a forced labor camp for three years in 2000. His wife and daughter had also been arrested mulitple times and his work place terminated his work contract because he practiced Falun Dafa.

In a pre-Olympic sweep of Shijiazhuang, police abducted Mr. Liu from his home on July 7, 2008. He was taken to Shijiazhuang City detention center where he was interrogated and abused. The detention center planned to hold Liu for 15 days then send him to a forced labor camp. He went on hunger strike to protest his illegal detention. He became weak and his health deteriorated, also due to abuse, so the camp refused to accept him and he was released. Mr. Liu never recovered from the abuse he had suffered, and died on Oct 27, 2009.
