Ms. Zhou Ailin was twice detained at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center (pictured above). During her incarceration, she would be persecuted and fired from her job as an auditor and demoted to a secretary.
For persisting in her faith in Falun Dafa, Ms. Zhou Ailin has been detained eight times in various brainwashing centers. While incarcerated, Zhou was force fed, beaten and held in solitary confinement. She was also hung up by her wrists for days on end.
Besides physical torture, Zhou was also fired from her job as a government auditor. She was demoted to a secretary, and over the years, authorities have withheld nearly 100,000 yuan of her salary to pay people to monitor at her company.
Below is a recount of her experiences.
Zhou was a former auditor of Qiaokou District Industrial and Commercial Bureau.
Before her latest arrest, she had been held at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center, Danshuichi Brainwashing Center, Erdaopeng Brainwashing Center and Hubei Province Brainwashing Center in Wuhan.
She was incarcerated for a total of eight times and for remaining steadfast in her faith, she was force fed, beaten and held in solitary confinement. She was also hung up by her wrists for days on end.
Zhou was also fired by the Qiaokou District Industrial and Commercial Bureau and transferred to a subordinate office to work as a secretary.
When Zhou was held in the Etouwan Brainwashing Center following her arrest on October 2, 2014, the authorities ordered her work unit to provide two employees as “transformation companions,” who would monitor her around the clock.
When her work unit failed to do this, the 610 Office extorted 8,000 yuan from the work unit each month for two months. The money was taken out of Zhou’s wages and was used to pay the people they hired to monitor her.
Zhou was arrested again in June 2016 for filing a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party.
After 15 days of administrative detention, she was held at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center for seven months, until the 2017 Chinese New Year. The authorities hired three people to monitor her and withdrew 63,000 yuan from her salary to pay them.
Zhou was reported by three college students for talking to people about Falun Gong on July 29, 2021. The police arrested her around September 14, 2021 and held her for 15 days at Wuhan City No. 1 Lockup. When she was released on September 29, the police stopped her at the gate. They then forcibly took her to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center.
